When old man winter is gone And spring will be here soon There’s a feeling of love in the air Blame it on the moon The air is filled with love bird songs We all know the tune It’s time to take a lover’s chance Blame it on the moon Blame it on the moon Love can take you by surprise Make you crazy like a loon And if it falls apart You just blame it on the moon.... If you’re looking for romance My advice to you Let the silver light shine in, and Blame it on the moon Blame it on the moon Love can take you by surprise Make you crazy like a loon And if it falls apart You just blame it on the moon... When old man winter is gone And spring will be here soon There’s a feeling of love in the air Blame it on the moon Blame it on the moon Blame it on the moon...

Two hearts Unaware of the play and their part Standing around on a new stage The orchestra setting the mood Director is sure to make moves For their love to align like the stars Today The opening scene will portray How they first met on a new stage Laughing about and around Feelings will sure to be found For a love that's aligned like the stars They remembered Every line they knew it And the two step They knew that they could do it And when they sang Sweet harmony The crowd called out for more And when he turned And held her near They found love for sure For a love that’s aligned like the stars They remembered Every line they knew it And the two step They knew that they could do it And when they sang Sweet harmony The crowd called out for more And when he turned And held her near They found love for sure And now Their dreams became reality The final act on a new stage A standing ovation for all The final curtain call For a love that’s aligned like the stars A love that’s aligned like the stars

Well I woke up this morning, rolled to my left Put my arms around her while she slept Realized how fortunate I am To have my baby I’m the luckiest man I’m sorry for these old cliches I’m gonna use them anyway I got a love that’s sweeter than honey And I’ll tell ya we’re doin just fine well I count my blessings, they keep coming my way And she’s my biggest blessing day by day And so I pray, don’t take her for granted And come up empty in my own blanket So here I go again I hope this life will never end I got a love that’s sweeter than honey And I’ll tell ya we’re doin just fine When all is said and done She’s the one for me Fine, sweeter than honey The sweetest love I’ll ever need So here I go again I hope this life will never end I got a love that’s sweeter than honey And I’ll tell ya we’re doin just fine When all is said and done She’s the one for me Fine, sweeter than honey The sweetest love I’ll ever need oh I’ll take her dancing into the night We love to celebrate till morning light I can’t tell you how much she means to me There’s no sweeter honey that can come from a bee So here I go again I hope this life will never end I got a love that’s sweeter than honey And I’ll tell ya we’re doin just fine yea I got a love that’s sweeter than honey And I’ll tell ya we’re doin just fine, fine, fine...

Honey, Honey, make my day Make me laugh, hug me, come my way I’m gonna woo you to me, I can’t resist Your warm embrace, I must insist It’s all because of you You’re my one desire It’s all because of you My heart is so on fire Honey, Honey you have no idea How much in love you make me feel You soothe and hold me on cold rainy nights Your love for me is so out of sight It’s all because of you A lasting love I discovered It’s all because of you There’ll never be another, no other One can make me feel way you do It’s the simple things I love Like when you pick me up when I am blue You give me confidence to go on And every now and then it dawns on me How very fortunate I am I see the forest beyond the trees I know our life together will go on ...so let me tell you… Honey, Honey step this way I’m gonna take you on a holiday In the cool mountains, the old Cascades We’ll throw our troubles and our worries away It’s all because of you You’re my one desire It’s all because of you My heart is so on fire It’s all because of you It’s all because of you It’s all because of you

What can I say? My heart is aching for you, day by day Old Uncle Sam is taking you oh, so far away To a land I’ll never know I know it’s right Our country needs you in this fight Oh, darling don’t be sad For it will be alright Waitin' for you to come on home Stay low. Look around. I need you, baby, to be safe and sound And, if you’re feeling sad and blue Just remember darling, I love you I love you Waitin' for you Waitin' for you to come on home Stay low. Look around. I need you, baby, to be safe and sound And, if you’re feeling sad and blue Just remember darling, I love you I love you Waitin' for you Waitin' for you to come on home Yeah, I’m waitin' for you Waitin' for you to come on home Yeah, Waitin' for you Waitin' for you to come on home

When all our dreams are playing second fiddle And we’re stuck living in the usual flow Time to hit the road Can you see the clouds they're a-clearin’? Can you see the stars appearin’ in a row? Time to hit the road No more fussin' and hanging around Put on your traveling clothes Cause you know that we’ll be happy baby.....when anything goes You know...time to hit the road Now all our kids are moving out steady And all these rooms are coming up empty You know....time to hit the road No more fussin' and hanging around Put on your traveling clothes Cause you know that we’ll be happy baby.....when anything goes You know....time to hit the road We’ve been waiting for this moment now to unfold Our bucket list gets longer by the day Soon we’ll be to old and doors will close on the chance And we’ll regret it We can’t let it We’ve been waiting for this moment now to unfold Our bucket list gets longer by the day So my darling take my hand let’s take a chance We won’t regret it So just let it When all our dreams are written on paper And we’re staring at a pile of magazines It’s a bad scene Watching all those traveling shows Makes me wanna scream Cause you know that we’ll be happy baby.....we make a good team So Let’s go....time to hit the road Yeah, let’s go....time to hit the road

Starlight, oh Starlight, oh Starlight Starlight Starlight Starlight...

about

About four years before my mom died, she gave me her longtime party companion and musical accompaniment: her ukulele. I quickly started writing uke songs, and to my delight and surprise, the music reminded me of the songs she loved and sang professionally. It was the Swing Era and her main gig was my dad’s night club, the Palace Blue Room in Rahway, New Jersey.

Musically, her spirit drives the melodies of these songs. Thank you, mom, for your gift of music and for entertaining our entire family, our friends, and even spontaneously complete strangers for so many years. I love you and dedicate this project to you.

Lyrically, they are all about my beautiful wife and soulmate, Annmarie, her inspiration and our journey together. The only exception is the song “Waiting For You” which I imagined my mom singing to my dad during his service in WW2 and “Starlight”, which became my nickname for her after she died. I thank God for this perfect alignment of female influences to generate these lighthearted sappy love songs and give God all the praise and glory for this simple gift of music. I hope you enjoy them.

A very special thanks to my good friend and fellow musician JD Cotton for his insistence in keeping me on track to get this recording done and his professional engineering, arrangements, promotion and musical contributions. He made it all come alive.

The photograph on the album cover shows my mom, Helen Matuska (center) and my dad, Fred Zullo (far left, behind the bar), at the Palace Blue Room (circa 1946). They were married in 1948.
